"Until now, the vast majority of Windows Phones were from major brands. Nokia, but also HTC or Samsung. But Microsoft decided to open up to more manufacturers, releasing reference designs and offering free Windows Phone licenses, and the results are already coming."
One of those results are the two Prestigio phones, the MultiPhone 8400 and 8500. Today it is the turn of the analysis of the second, a cheap terminal (it can be bought for about €150) and that, already sneak peek, it's surprisingly good.

Prestigio MultiPhone 8500 outside
Of course, it cannot be said that the Prestigio has a very original design, but that does not mean that it is not interesting. The construction seems resistant and it is comfortable to hold in the hand despite the size (this is influenced on the one hand by the thinness of the phone and the fact that one has large hands).
It's not a flashy phone, but it's slim and quite comfortable
On the sides we find the lock and volume buttons, which have behaved well during use but I have the feeling that they will suffer over time. A camera button is missing to be able to launch photos quickly. We can replace it with a button in the Windows Phone notification center, taking advantage of the fact that the Prestigio has one more button available, but it doesn't seem like the best solution.
It doesn't seem like a good decision either to put the speaker on the back of the mobile: when we rest it on a table, it is completely covered and loses a lot of volume. The unwarranted bulge of the camera is yet another small glitch I've come across, especially when the pictures it takes aren't particularly good. They are details, yes, and in general the Prestige is not bad on the outside.
A screen with lights and shadows
The screen of the Prestigio MultiPhone 8500 is its strongest point: it is a 5-inch HD panel with a pixel density just right for a mobile, without reaching the stratospheric absurdities of certain terminals more concerned with numbers than with user experience. It is true that if you pay close attention and are somewhat myopic you will end up seeing the pixels, but what matters to us, the quality that it gives us in normal use, is more than enough.
Where we do have to complain is in the management of screen brightness The automatic sensor is not particularly precise and in many cases it gives us more brightness than necessary (in a dark room, for example, it dazzles too much). In others, such as outdoors with sun, it does not give enough and the screen suffers a lot in visibility.
Hence the title of this section: a screen with lights and shadows. In normal situations it will give us very good performance, with enviable quality and a very attractive size - and I'm not a big screen friend. The bad thing is the behavior in somewhat more demanding cases, where it will perform less.
Prestigio MultiPhone 8500 Duo, a phone for Internet
The other pro of the Prestigio is the battery Without any type of problem or restriction, it is capable of reaching the end of the day to spare. In some cases I have been able to take it up to two days with a somewhat more restrained use, which is quite a brand used to phones that have a hard time getting home in the afternoon.
In addition, you have to take into account that the battery is removable, so ultimately you could double its autonomy by carrying an extra battery with you . It is a perfect phone for users like me, intensive messaging, social networks and Internet.
The downside is that perhaps it is too focused on that type of user. The camera, for example, is nothing special. In low light it produces a lot of noise, and although the behavior outdoors is decent, the white balance has been out of adjustment more than necessary on occasion, distorting the colors too much. In this sense, the default Windows Phone camera application will be enough for what we can take with the mobile.
Prestigio MultiPhone 8500 Duo inside
We've never had a Windows Phone complaint on any phone, and the Prestigio is no different. I hardly noticed any performance difference with my Lumia 920, neither in games nor in normal applications. Perhaps a slightly less fluid scroll in certain applications, but nothing too important.
Windows Phone also adapts smoothly to the screen size of the Prestigio MultiPhone 8500. As we said before, we have one more button in the notification center, more space for notifications, a font size that is readable without problems … Apps are no problem either: they show more content if possible, but we don't have warped interfaces or unused bands anywhere.
In this sense, we are quite reassured: Microsoft's commitment to lesser-known manufacturers is only going to bring cheap phones, not bad phones - at least not in the software part, of course.
Prestigio MultiPhone 8500, conclusions
For less than €200, the Prestigio MultiPhone 8500 DUO is an option to consider for those who want a large mobile without spending a lot of money. Yes, it has its flaws, but the battery, screen, and price more than make up for it. In addition, having Windows Phone is a guarantee in terms of performance, with flawless operation during the two weeks of testing; and also in terms of updates (there has been no problem installing the preview , for example). And, of course, the fact of having dual SIM will convince more than one that you need it.In favor
