Once again, Nokia partners with US carrier Verizon to launch an exclusive Lumia. The previous one was the Nokia Lumia 928 and now it is the turn of the Lumia 929 or Nokia Lumia Icon, of which we had already had enough leaks.
Like its predecessor, the Lumia Icon features a boxier design, is lighter and focuses on a great multimedia experience. Let's see what this new mobile offers us inside.
Nokia Lumia Icon, design and specifications
As we said before, the Nokia Lumia Icon is another Nokia adventure in the world of aluminum. The design is square and much more sober than the rest of Lumias. Nor does it have its range of colors: it is only available in black and white.
The screen, a 5-inch OLED and 1080p, doesn't seem to disappoint. It's slightly curved, it's Gorilla Glass 3 for maximum strength and it comes with Nokia's ultra-responsive touch technology. And as for the rest of the specifications, they are not bad either:

Once again, multimedia is the main thing
As they already did with the Lumia 928, the Lumia Icon has the multimedia experience as its main focus. In addition to the 20 MP camera (same as the Lumia 1520) it comes with four high-quality HAAC microphones for capturing stereo audio. The results, if we can trust Nokia's promotional video, are pretty impressive.
This time, mind you, we don't have the powerful speakers of the 928, and we also lose the xenon flash. In this sense, the Lumia Icon loses in multimedia, although it is still a good phone for it.
Nokia Lumia Icon, price and availability
The Lumia Icon has one major downside: it's only available in the US from carrier Verizon, so you can't buy it free, at least officially. But if you're lucky and have access to Verizon, you can get it starting March 16 for $200 and a two-year membership.
The truth is that it is a pity that it does not reach more countries. We are talking about a 5-inch phone, a large screen but more manageable than phablets like the 1520, which is very attractive. It has very powerful hardware, and if its biggest weakness is that Glance doesn't work, we can think that the phone is really good. Let's hope Nokia launches a similar phone for the rest of the countries.
