Nokia Third Quarter Financial Results

The Finnish company has just officially and publicly presented its financial results of the same during the third quarter of the year and between the data and Figures presented is an encouraging figure for both Nokia and Microsoft: 8.8 million Nokia Lumia sold in this period.

Great growth in sales of the Lumia line of smartphones

Since the Lumia 800 hit the market, Nokia has sold a total of 35 million smartphones in the Lumia family. The evolution in the number of Windows Phone smartphones sold has increased considerably, going up to 8.8 million Lumia from last quarter 7.4 million, or the same quarter last year where 2.9 million were sold.

It's a good progression and we are at a record sales figurebut it is far from figures like Samsung, 88 million, or Apple , 34 million.

Total sales improve this year but still low

Total sales, with all types of mobile phones, exceed 55.8 million units and this is a growth from the previous quarter of a modest 4%, however it is a clear year-on-year drop since last year this figure was 76.6 million. The phones with the highest sales volume have been Nokia 105, Asha 501, and Nokia 210.

Nokia returns to profit

In terms of revenue and net profit for the company, Nokia forgets about the red numbers in a quarter in which although have entereda 22% less than last year, they have achieved a net profit of 118 million euros , while last year they lost 560 million, last quarter Nokia showed a loss of 115 million.

The company is awaiting approval for the sale of its mobile division to Microsoft and it seems that the Finnish company has returned to the right path in this section. Microsoft would take the baton with some interesting numbers.
