Could this be Nokia's smartwatch?

Anonim

Nokia won't get any new product out without us getting all the details leaked first. The latest prototype that has been seen is of a possible Finnish smartwatch, from the Chinese social network Sina Weibo.

The truth is that the two photos do not give much detail. We see what would be the body of the watch, without the strap, with a clearly visible Nokia logo on the front and with the curvature to adapt to the wrist. We do not see what the screen is like. Yes we can say that the watch seems very thin, especially compared to the Galaxy Gear.

Personally, I have many doubts about these photos. There's nothing that makes me specifically say they're counterfeit, but the fact that so little of the prototype is shown, the strange texture of the screen, the misaligned holes for the strap... In short, I don't have much confidence, although neither It can be said that it comes as a surprise that Nokia is preparing its own smartwatch.

The other question that arises is what operating system would this watch have. Considering how strongly Nokia has invested in Windows Phone, it would be absurd if this watch was not a good complement to the Lumia (besides being a good watch on its own, which is also important). In this case it is very likely that Microsoft is responsible for this system and Nokia the hardware manufacturer - it is still too early for it to be the result of the purchase they made -.If, on the other hand, it's a separate project from Windows Phone and Microsoft (which wouldn't sit too well with Elop's strategy), I'd bet the sale of the device division will cancel this out, or at least be delayed considerably. .

As for the software itself, we can speculate something based on the Windows/Windows Phone kernel, which would make it easier to create apps, and with a tile-based interface but better suited to a small screen . Obviously, you can't put Windows Phone or RT in a clock.

In my opinion, this seems like a very early prototype that makes us think that Nokia and Microsoft's smartwatch may be close, but I would not guarantee that it will be this specific model that they will end up presenting.
