A 12x zoom for the Lumia 920

Certainly the Nokia Lumia 920 is not the most accessorized phone on the market. What's more, compared to a Samsung or an iPhone, it's certainly rather lacking in physical additions to the device.
So when I was browsing a well-known online store located in Hong Kong, I came across a 12x optical zoom for my Lumia 920 , I couldn't resist getting it for “ four bitches ”.
A complete and good quality kit
Almost three weeks after placing the order, a box with the new “toy” for my Smartphone arrived at my house.The first impression is very good, since the packaging is made of hard cardboard, and the set brings positive details such as a chamois for the lens, or a bag to store it.
Another thing that I liked is that the optics have a metallic body, and the lenses are made of glass; when I expected plastic at best.
But the best thing about the Kit is the rigid casing that surrounds the phone, and where the zoom is attached. Since it is solid, pleasant to the touch, it fits perfectly on the phone, and offers comfortable protection for the Lumia.
The assembly of the kit is very simple, finally obtaining a photographic device supported on a tripod and that allows the Nokia to take even more photos stable.
And precisely the excellent mechanical stabilization of the 920's camera allows me to take photos with the 12X Zoom freehand, without the need for a tripod. Which would be impossible without this system.
Powerful optics, but poor quality and utility
But up to here I can say positive things. When I start testing with the new attachment, the first negative surprise is that it is not a telephoto lens.
That is, I cannot vary the increase from more to less and vice versa. This is a 12x fixed lens and it's over. Which means that it only makes sense if I want to capture an object that is located at the exact distance, no more, no less. Or play around with the camera's digital zoom - something I always shy away from.
The second on the forehead is the extreme radial distortion that the lens has As you can see in the test I carried out taking a photo with the normal lens of the phone and another with the magnification, leaving the central focus of the image, the distortion is brutal.
Finally, the support that allows the mobile to be placed on the tripod is hooked to the optics. Which prevents me from using the tripod if I don't use the zoom; removing any usefulness from the coupling and preventing it from being used in another stabilization device or photographic support.
In short, the Kit has been worth me as an expensive case and optics with very little use.
