Nokia is at MWC 2013 to present its new phones with Windows Phone, and we already have confirmation of the rumors that have been appearing lately: we have Nokia Lumia 520 and Nokia Lumia 720. Let's see what the second holds for us. We have a design very similar to the entire Lumia range: square, with interchangeable covers in various colors (white, red, yellow, tan and black). It is also one of the lightest and thinnest in the range: 128 grams and only 9 millimeters thick .

Nokia Lumia 720 Specifications

As for the specifications, the Nokia Lumia 720 is going quite well for a mid-range mobile. 4.3-inch screen with ClearBlack Display technology that we have already seen in other Finn mobiles, with a resolution of 800x480, perhaps too little for such a large screen. What it does bring is the super sensitive screen like the Nokia Lumia 920 and 820.

Inside we have a powerful processor, 1 GHz and dual core with 512 MB of RAM, which although it seems little should be more than enough for Windows Phone to work without any problem. The Lumia 720 also has NFC, just like its bigger brothers.

To store all applications and data we have 8 GB of internal memory, expandable by microSD. And finally, the battery: 2000 MAh (the same as the 920), which promises about 520 hours on standby and 13.5 on calls. Like the Nokia Lumia 820, it has special cases to be able to recharge it wirelessly.

6 and 2 megapixel cameras

As for the camera, although it does not reach the quality of the Nokia Lumia 920, it has some interesting aspects. Six megapixels with Carl Zeiss optics on the rear with an f/1.9 aperture, so it will do very well in low light.

The front has 2 megapixels and is wide angle, to facilitate selfies and video calls. In addition, we have two new camera-related applications.

Glam Me is the one shown in the presentation, and it is used to take photos of yourself with the rear camera. You simply focus and the phone will tell you how you have to move the camera so that your face is perfectly framed. We also have Place Tag, which adds location and date and time metadata when you take the photo.

Price and availability

The Nokia Lumia 720 will be marketed mainly in Asia. In March this year it will come to China with TD SCDMA. We do not have dates for when it will arrive in Europe.

As for the price, it will cost €249 without taxes. For all that it brings, it is a very, very good price. It's quite an effort that Nokia is making with the cheapest phones.

From my point of view, Nokia is attacking very well the mid and low range of Windows Phone. The Lumia 720 is quite the phone, and at €249 it's not that far off from what the 820 has to offer. It is a pity that it is not going to reach more countries yet, because it is a very interesting option for those who want a good affordable Windows Phone.
