Windows 10 isn't just a change to the desktop menu. Underneath it brings changes and, above all, the materialization of the idea of convergence. At the Gartner ITxpo symposium, Nadella has insisted on this idea, showing that they are very clear about what they want to do in Redmond.

The first thing is that Windows will work on any device, from sensors connected to the Internet, to large servers, passing through the famous wearables. And above all, they will be adding value with the entire ecosystem and not just launching products at random. An interesting example: bringing Windows to Internet of Things devices, which is integrated with a brain in Azure.

He also raised other ideas, such as that mobility is not only being on all devices but offering the same experiences on them. In other words, an open ecosystem, in which you do not need to be 100% Microsoft to enjoy it, as is the case with Apple or even Google.

Nadella has not set aside other issues such as Microsoft's complex licenses for different types of customers, or the strengths of Active Directory and Office 365. However, the most interesting thing is precisely that of Internet of things.

The future is not (only) a clock

We are all waiting for Microsoft to join the market for expensive and heavy watches that need a phone to work and show you notifications.

And while many tech companies rush to launch smartwatches of questionable utility (because we all want notifications on the wrist, right?), Microsoft goes for another way, and in my opinion the most successful.

Microsoft knows that the revolution is not going to be in watches, or at least not only in them. No, the real revolution is going to come in the Internet of things, in having everything connected: car, house, television... Clocks will have a presence, sure, but more as a tooland not as an end in itself. In fact, it's in the direction that the latest rumors about the Microsoft wristband were going.

In Redmond they have been preparing for a long time, and not only in operating systems. Azure has long ceased to be an AWS server farm and has become a provider of cloud services, including such interesting things as machine learning platforms. They are also present in many homes (neither Google nor Apple have as much reach in mobile, computer and television - Xbox - as Microsoft), and of course they have a significant dominance in companies. They have everything ready and a well-extended network to enter with force

Microsoft it's not finished Yes, it's possible that I missed the tablet and mobile train, but the next one not only won't to lose but that also they know exactly where it's going And although I wouldn't dare to assure it (we don't know what Apple or Google are doing right now) I would say that they are going to achieve overtake your competitors on the right.
