Windows in short: more MWC 2014
The week ending in February began with a new edition of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona The fair took much of the limelight during these days and proof of them are all the headlines that stand out in Xataka. But 7 days are enough for something else and just take a look to find all kinds of news.
Starting with the echoes of the purchase of WhatsApp by Facebook, and that is that the popular messaging service will soon have calls from voice putting a little more fear to the operators. But for the fear that the users of MtGox are going through, the once leading Bitcoin exchange market has imploded this week, taking with it more than 700,000 of the precious coins. There will be those who take the opportunity to blame the lack of regulation, something of which we have also had our fill this week with the new rules on crowdfunding that the Spanish government has presented and that have not been without controversy.
But back to our business, in the Windows universe we have also had a good handful of news to add to those published during the week :
- With March will arrive a new update of the Xbox One dashboard, of which there is already a video, and Microsoft will celebrate the arrival of Titanfallwith its own pack for Xbox One.
- According to the CEO of Orange, Redmond could be considering investing in the French video portal Dailymotion
- As HP introduces new Windows 8.1 tablets, Lenovo has updated its 10-inch Yoga tablet with a better display and processor.
- Microsoft intends to turn our mobile phones with Windows Phone into a pocket scanner with the application Office Lens.
- News on applications this week continues with Skype adopting the use of Microsoft accounts, follows with the immediate disappearance of Facebook Messenger for Windows and end with updates in Windows 8 such as Xbox Music or the Mail, Contacts and Calendar applications.
- Nokia has finished MWC 2014 with a new award for its successful Lumia 520 which took the title of best low-cost smartphone .
So far our Sunday review in Xataka Windows March has already begun and, without eating or drinking it, I became the chop of a neighborhood called Bel Air, the first two months of 2014 have already flown by. Hopefully the year will have more and better to offer.
