Windows in short: Ballmer's tears
This week we have had a lot of news regarding the ecosystem Windows and Microsoft In particular we can highlight that at the beginning of the week we saw the arrival of the second generation of Surface tablets, with a new model Surface 2 with ARM NVIDIA chip Tegra 4 and Windows RT and the Surface 2 Pro which makes use of a low power Intel Haswell chip. We have even made a complete comparison with previous models.
Along with these tablets, a new line of accessories has also arrived, including new keyboards including one with an integrated battery. The week has progressed and we have informed you about the manager who seems to be gaining strength in the fight for the succession by Steve Ballmer as Microsoft CEO, Alan Mulally.
At the end of the week we saw how Steve Ballmer was very emotional in a video when talking about his farewell and we also informed you about how Windows is even present on systems of computer graphics computing, something, which years ago was dedicated to teams that worked on specific Unix distributions for this purpose, such as Silicon Graphics workstations, for example.
The animation of cinematographic characters is done by capturing movements and we have been able to verify how today it can be done in real time , which greatly facilitates filming and shortens content generation times in a Starwars 1313 demo.
Another of the questions we asked you is if you missed the Start Menu button in Windows 8 and the result is at least surprising, even more so if we take into account that Microsoft takes it back with Windows 8.1.
But this week we have not only had these news but there have also been news that have remained in the pipeline and therefore we we offer them in list format for you to take a quick look at quick glance:
- Microsoft shows its application for Windows 8.1 Reading List, a good service to save your pending reading, bookmarks and articles on the web.
- Redmond confirms thatMicrosoft Security Essentials is nothing more than a first layer of security, that is, more components are required to enjoy a secure system. This statement comes officially after some antivirus test scores were disclosed in which Microsoft software did not make the cut.
- Airlines Delta Airlines force their pilots to change their iPads for Surface 2 tablets .
- Microsoft could invest $2.7 million in a new data center in the Netherlands, something necessary if we take into account the number of services in the cloud that the company offers.
- In the field of Windows Phone we have to comment that Nokia has updated its maps of the application Here Maps that allows navigation GPS far and wide the world for free on Windows Phone 8.
