Microsoft News is now Microsoft Start: Microsoft's news app name change to compete with Google Discover
Table of contents:
Microsoft continues to bet on the Android market and this time uses a name change with one of its already existing applications to reinforce its commitment. Microsoft Start is the name from now on of the old Microsoft News, the Redmond alternative to Google Discover.
Google uses Discover as a utility to compile the news that may be of interest to us based on our browsing habits and location. Same thing Microsoft does, now with Microsoft Start.A tool for Android-based devices that also has a corresponding web version.
The Google Discover Competition
Microsoft once again changes the name of its application and after a change in 2018 in which it went from being MSN News to Microsoft News, now, three years later, it is called Microsoft Start. And it's not just a name change, since the company has redesigned the web version of its news portal.
The objective is to improve the experience that they were already offering on mobile devicesv and thus be able to compete on equal terms, or at least try, with Google Discover. New name and new icon, although the application we all knew remains the same.
Microsoft Start is an application dedicated to displaying news and current affairs, up-to-the-minute information on topics that may interest us. This tool allows us to establish which news or media we like or don't like to improve recommendations, move by categories to search for news or save them to read them later.
Browsing is carried out by a tabbed browsing system where you can read news, articles and access recommendations. It also has a private mode included in case we want the search data not to be saved on our device.
Microsoft Start Completes the user experience with a news search engine and its own Google Lens for searching for images, products or texts , with the options to copy or translate the texts recognized with the camera of our mobiles, or from the gallery.
