How to remove an operating system from your boot in Windows 8

Steps prior to removing an operating system from the boot list
The first step we must take is to make sure that the operating system that our computer is going to start by default is the one we really want, in our particular case, Windows 8.1. To do this, we will perform the following steps:
- Press the keyboard shortcut Windows + R and write in the program box to run sysdm .cpl
- Once the System Properties box is open, click on Advanced optionsand within this tab we go to the section Startup and recovery and click on Configuration
- In this window we make sure that the Default Operating System is the one we want our computer to start initially.
Once these steps have been completed, the next step we must carry out is to download the program Visual BCD Editor and install it on our system.
Remove an operating system from the boot list with VisualBCD
Once we have downloaded and installed VisualBCD, the next step we are going to do is open the program and start working with it to eliminate the operating systems we want from our boot sector:
- Once the program is open, we go to the left panel where we can read BcdStore inside we look for Loadersand in this branch we will find the operating systems that are installed in our boot sector. In our case we can appreciate Windows 8.1, Windows Recovery Environment and Windows 8.
- To remove, for example, our Windows 8 from the boot sector, press right buttonover its name and click on Delete selected object or press the delete button.
