How to mount and burn ISO images in Windows 8 natively
Table of contents:
For many years, mounting an ISO image in different versions of Windows was impossible unless we used third-party software. This created a virtual disk drive, and mounted the image that we were interested in so that the operating system could recognize it as a CD or DVD, because ultimately an ISO is a disk image that emulates the operating a CD or DVD
Now in Windows 8, we have the ability to mount and burn ISO images directly, without installing any additional software.Without a doubt, this is a great change that will facilitate the day-to-day life of many users when working with this type of file.
Mounting an ISO image on a Windows 8 computer is very easy, so much so that we just have to do right click on the image in question and in the contextual menu that will appear we will see the Mount option.
This will take us directly to a new virtual drive created temporarily, with the image mounted, so we can see its contents.
From the removable storage devices section we can eject the image by right-clicking on the virtual unit that contains it and choosing Eject.
We can eject an ISO image as if it were a real disk.
Burn ISO images to disc in Windows 8
And in case we don't have enough simple steps, let's go with burning ISO images to discs in Windows 8.
For this, we only need to introduce a blank CD/DVD (it depends on the size of the ISO image that we are going to record) in the recording drive of our computer. Next, locate the file to burn, right click on it and choose the option Burn disk image
A new window will appear in which we will have to choose the recording unit, and if we want to perform a verification of the data once the recording is finished .
As you can see it couldn't be easier, we have integrated both tools that for many years depended on third-party software, or even two applications (one to assemble and the other to record); in a very simplified but powerful way.
