We compare IE10 with the main browsers on the market

Last month we showed you a comparison between Internet Explorer 9 and Internet Explorer 10, where we could clearly appreciate the great work that Microsoft had done with the latest version of its browser.

This time we'll see where IE10 stands when we put it face to face with its direct competitors: Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera and Safari for Windows. We already anticipate that the result does not place Microsoft's browser as the best in all situations, but this is not the most important thing, since it is now ranked at the same level as the rest.

SunSpider Javascript Benchmark

In the same way as in the comparison between IE9 and IE10, on this occasion and to ensure that the data is not the result of some specific failure, the tests have been carried out twice in each version and the result end has been calculated as the average of these two readings.

SunSpider performs a series of tests on the browser to the time it needs to process certain Javascript instructions which include: 3D rendering ; access to arrays, object properties, and variables; mathematical processes with integers and floating point; flow control (loops, recursion, conditionals); encrypted; object performance "date"; regular expressions; string handling and much more.

In the following graph, the less plus the browser obtains the better result.

In this test we appreciate a total mastery of Internet Explorer 10, which passes the tests in about 140 ms on average. The most striking thing, however, is the great change that has occurred between one version and another of the Microsoft browser.

HTML5 Test

This test measures the ability of the browser to support HTML5, scoring it on a scale of 0 to 500 points, being better the more points you get .

This time we can see how Internet Explorer 10 fails to get ahead, but close to the rest, which is still quite important taking into account the results that IE9 leaves.
