Sync your Windows 8 settings so they're the same across all your devices
Table of contents:
Among all the features and innovations that Windows 8 brings, there are some that, although they are very simple, can be quite interesting for the end user. Today we are going to talk about one of them, which is the possibility of synchronizing Windows 8 settings so that it is the same wherever you go, on any device you use .
This feature is not exclusively applicable when changing from one Windows 8 device to another, but it also helps us in those situations in which we have to format our computer, because simply by logging in with our Windows Live account, we'll recover installed apps through the Store, Internet Explorer 10 settings, history and bookmarks, and even personal files
Do you have a Windows Live account?
First of all, is to create a Windows Live account, or if we already have one, access Windows 8 using an online user account, simply by entering said data. To explain how, let's focus on the case of a user who already accesses Windows 8 with a local account.
By entering the keyboard shortcut Windows key + I, we will access the settings charm and click on Change PC settings, which we find right at the end of the slash.
From here, we go to the Users category, and if under our account the option switch to a Microsoft account appears, it means that we are accessing through a local account. If that were the case, we would enter and enter the data of our Windows Live account.
The form itself gives us the option to create a new one in case we don't have one, and remember that you can use existing email addresses from services like GMail, so that you have everything under a single account.
Synchronizing settings
Once we have logged in with a Windows Live account, on the screen to change PC settings, we will see a new option called synchronize your settings .
This group allows us to choose what things we want to synchronize to our Microsoft account and what not, as well as whether we want to allow saved data to be updated while we are connected to a medium-use connection (mobile connections).
This way, every time we log in with a Windows Live account on any Windows 8 computer, all our settings that we have selected here will always be downloaded.
