Have the cinema at your fingertips thanks to Xbox Video

Together with Xbox Music and Xbox Games, Microsoft completes its pack of leisure and entertainment services with Xbox Video. Thanks to this application, included as standard in Windows 8 just like the other two, we can easily have the latest series and movies at our fingertips.

Xbox Video Organization

The organization and presentation of this application follows exactly the same scheme as the other two that make up the Microsoft Xbox group for Windows 8.

As soon as we enter, all the videos we have in the library will appear on the left.We will be able to play them from the device we are using, but also send it to Xbox 360 so that it can be played from it, as long as we have Xbox SmartGlass.

Next, we have a group in which we are shown the outstanding series and movies of the moment. Along with this group, we can find a selection of movies and series separately.

In all groups, except for the highlighted one, we will see the symbol “>” at the end of each group title. This means that we can click on it, so for example, if we click on “TV store >”, we will go to the full view of the series that are availableThe existing filters allow us to see the products according to their number of sales, as well as gender, television channels where they can be seen, etc.

Each film/series has its own sheet with information about it, as you can see in the image above. If what we are watching is a movie, we can read information about it and find related movies. In the case of series, instead of related, we will see all the available seasons.

To be able to watch a movie, we can rent it for a certain period of time, or buy it to have it always available, being the most cheap the first As for the series, we can buy individual chapters, entire seasons or obtain a season pass at the beginning of the season.

The season pass allows us to add the chapters to our collection automatically, as they are published. These passes can mean a saving of between 20% or 50% with respect to the purchases of single episodes.

Regarding transcripts, most Xbox Video movies and series have this option available. However, there is no option that allows us to filter products that have these.

As a curious fact, it should be noted that Xbox Video also works with Kinect from Xbox 360, being able to use voice commands to perform actions such as pause, stop, play, go forward, etc.
