Thermaltake has great news for lovers of "full tower" PC cases that have mid-tower features. The company has announced the launch of its massive Thermaltake A700TG Aluminum Tempered Glass Edition.

Thermaltake A700TG is huge and ready for E-ATX motherboards

The A700 box has measurements of 582 x 294 x 596 mm. This is almost enough to install a motherboard on its side, but it also provides 200mm of headroom for tower CPU coolers if we so choose.

The box weighs about 20.05kg, and much of that added weight comes from a pair of super-thick 5mm tempered glass side panels. Since larger panels need additional thickness to reduce flex, that thickness is probably justified. Thermaltake mounts them to the rear hinges to reduce the chances of one falling off, securing it with a cam lock on the front.

The ports are located on the front of the top panel, including one USB3 Gen2, two USB3 Gen1, and two USB 2.0. A hard drive activity LED, headphone and microphone jacks, and a reset button are located on the opposite side of an LED-lit center power button.

Beyond its enormity and the use of good materials, the A700 catches our eye with an eight-slot swivel card holder. In standard orientation, that eighth slot opens the bottom slot on the motherboard to house a dual-slot graphics card. In the alternative configuration, an upstream cable connection only one of its slots. Thermaltake's website says the lift is built-in, but the manual says it's not included. This could be a determining factor to acquire it, with a cost of 300 official dollars.
