Acer has announced a new line of low-cost laptops, running Windows 10 Home, designed to compete against Google Chromebooks by offering a fully functional Windows 10 environment.

Acer Cloudbook

Chromebooks are very cheap laptops that work with ChromeOS, this system has the disadvantage that it needs an internet connection to work since all applications run in the cloud. Now Acer offers us an alternative based on Windows 10 Home, the Acer Cloudbook 11 and 14 inches with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels.

Processor and memory

The Acer Cloudbook are built with a modest Intel Celeron N3050 dual-core Airmont processor manufactured at 14nm and with frequencies of 1.6 / 2.16 GHz, it is not a chip intended for very demanding tasks but for multimedia, web browsing and email it is more than enough. The processor specifications are completed by an Intel HD Graphics GPU consisting of 12 EUs at 320-600MHz. As for the RAM they have 2 GB DDR3L.

Storage

If we focus on its internal storage we begin to see differences, the 11-inch model is offered in capacities of 16 GB and 32 GB, the first of which is not advisable given the little space that will be available to the user. As for the 14-inch model, it is offered with storage capacities of 32 GB and 64 GB. All of them have an SD slot to increase their storage capacity, although remember that Windows 10 still does not allow you to install the store applications on the memory card, something that should change soon.

Connectivity

As for connectivity, they have WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.0, 1 x USB 3.0, 1x USB 2.0, HDMI video output, microphone and the aforementioned SD slot.

The 11-inch model should hit the market throughout August while the 14-inch model will do so in November.
