Some amd computers won't boot after update for meltdown and specter

We are still talking about the Meltdown and Specter vulnerabilities, this time it has been discovered that some computers with AMD processors are not able to boot after applying the patch fixes.

Microsoft stops updates to Meltdown and Specter on AMD

Microsoft has reported that it has stopped distributing the patches for Meltdown and Specter on computers with AMD processors, this decision has been made after many users have complained that their equipment has stopped working after the update. Apparently cumulative update KB4056892 (2018-01) makes AMD chipset motherboards unable to boot after applying this update.

Microsoft accuses AMD of failing to provide sufficient engineering resources for the development of the update, all while excusing itself from its responsibility to test patches on AMD systems before making them available to users.

"Microsoft has reported that some customers with AMD processor-based computers are seeing their system fail to boot after installing the latest security updates against the Meltdown and Specter vulnerabilities. After investigating the problem Microsoft has determined that some AMD chipsets do not conform to the documentation previously provided by AMD to develop Windows operating system updates to protect against vulnerabilities known as Specter and Meltdown."
