Alpenföhn, a prestigious German manufacturer of high-performance processor coolers, today unveiled the Alpenföhn Matterhorn Threadripper, a variant of its popular Matterhorn series tower air coolers, which supports the AMD TR4 socket.

Alpenföhn Matterhorn Threadripper, a new heatsink for AMD Ryzen Threadrippers

The new Alpenföhn Matterhorn Threadripper heatsink comes with an expanded copper base, offering full coverage of the huge IHS of Ryzen Threadripper processors. No less than six 6mm thick copper heatpipes come from this copper base, which transport the heat from this base through the stack of aluminum fins that make up the dense radiator of this powerful heatsink. The large block of aluminum fins is intended to maximize the heat exchange surface, to maximize its cooling capacity. Both fins and heat pipes feature a ceramic black coating that works to increase the surface area for heat dissipation.

The heatsink ships with a redesigned Wingboost 2 120mm fan, which spins at a speed between 500 and 1, 500 RPM, pushing up to 106m³h of air, with a noise output as low as 18.2 dBA. The manufacturer includes Alpenföhn permafrost thermal compound tube for easy installation.

With overall dimensions of 138mm x 100mm x 158mm, the heatsink weighs around 1kg. The company did not mention the refrigerator's thermal load limits, and it is recommended even for TDP's 250W models like the Threadripper 2990WX. The company has also not announced the price of this new heatsink. What do you think of this new Alpenföhn Matterhorn Threadripper?
