Amd Announces New Ryzen Mobile (Raven Ridge) Processors For Laptops

We continue with the landing of new AMD products based on the award-winning Zen microarchitecture, this time it is the turn of the new Ryzen Mobile processors that form the ninth generation of APUs of the company, the most important to date to represent the union of Zen processing cores along with Vega graphics technology.

The new AMD Ryzen Mobile processors, also known by their code name Raven Ridge, mark the culmination of the company's portfolio products based on the x86 Zen microarchitecture. This represents a huge step forward in performance and energy efficiency compared to the previous Bristol Ridge generation that was based on the Excavator modular architecture manufactured at 28nm. Raven Ridge is built at 14nm, paired with a much more advanced architecture to deliver up to 52% more IPC and 270% more performance per watt of power consumed.

If the improvement of the CPU section is impressive, it is no less what has been achieved with the new integrated graphics based on the AMD Vega graphics architecture. The integrated GPU of these new Raven Ridge processors improves their performance by 128% compared to the previous Bristol Ridge generation whose GPU was based on the same technology as Tonga and Fiji.

Raven Ridge has all the features that are part of SenseMI technology, which has helped to optimize the operation of all transistors on the chip to achieve its impressive performance improvements while consuming 58% less energy compared to the previous generation.
