Lisa Su, AMD's Executive Director, participated in a Q&A roundtable after her CES speech, addressing the topic of Ray Tracing and NVIDIA's compatibility with Adaptive Sync.

NVIDIA has shown FreeSync to be "the right answer for a couple of years" after adopting Adaptive Sync

On the subject of Ray Tracing, Lisa Su once again said that she is "deeply developing", but she does not feel the need to exaggerate yet: "The consumer does not see many benefits today because the other parts of the ecosystem are not ready."

He also claimed that NVIDIA has shown FreeSync to be "the right answer for a couple of years" after the recent adoption of Adaptive Sync.

A few days ago we learned that NVIDIA made the compatibility of G-Sync with Adaptive Sync official. This was mainly due to the enormous number of monitors that use VESA technology, considerably surpassing that of NVIDIA. This also means that it will offer G-Sync support to multiple FreeSync monitors, which is AMD's technology.

AMD appears to have won the tune with its open-standard 'adaptive synchronous' technology. Unfortunately, Nvidia doesn't seem to think that most FreeSync monitors are up to G-Sync standards. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang said on stage that although the company has tested more than 400 models, only 12 have passed the company's tests so far. More than 100 more monitors are ready to be tested in the immediate future.
