Recall that the second generation Ryzen are based on the new Pinnacle Ridge silicon, which is manufactured by GlobalFoundries using its 12nm FinFET process, this will allow greater efficiency than current models, based on Summit Ridge silicon at 14nm. The new processors will come at higher operating frequencies to improve performance. AMD has also modified the DDR4 memory controller, to reduce latencies and allow the use of faster modules, up to 3466 MHz. As for the second generation of Threadripper processors, these will arrive in the second half of the year, based on the same Pinnacle Ridge silicon, so they will include all the previous improvements.
Exact discounts vary depending on the particular product. For example, the Threadripper 1950X is available for $ 869, which is 13% off your $ 999 MSRP. Meanwhile, the Ryzen 7 1800X only received a 6% discount and is now available for $ 329.
