Amd epyc milan could show smt to four bands thanks to zen 3
Table of contents:
The AMD EPYC “Milan” processors could be an important point for the red team, as each micro-architecture has become noticeably better. So much so that it is speculated that Zen 3 could bring very important improvements, among which we find better densities and more threads per core.
AMD EPYC
According to AMD itself , Zen 3 has already completed its development phase and the first steps of Zen 4 are already beginning.
This new micro-architecture will continue with 7nm transistors, but will fully optimize some of its features. The most basic of all we can expect is a 20% increase in transistor density thanks to the Extreme Ultra Violet lithography method.
On the other hand, according to Hardwareluxx, an interesting feature expected is the increase in the SMT (Simultaneous Multi-Threading) from two to four bands. This means that we would go from having two threads per core to having four, so working in parallel would improve considerably.
With this enhancement, you could see data centers supporting many more virtual machines, as well as servers processing instructions significantly faster. We don't have any official confirmation yet, but it would be a logical evolution for these processors.
Regarding innovation, we really cannot say that it is something new.
While it is true that most desktop computers mount computers with only two threads per core, this technology has already been explored by IBM . Some of its POWER ISA- based processors have managed to offer SMT to four and even eight bands.
However, with AMD's hot streak, we can expect great things from Zen 3 and AMD EPYC “Milan” . As we get closer to 2020 we will know more about it, so stay tuned for news.
And to you, what do you think of this possible improvement in the future AMD EPYC "Milan" ? Do you think they should implement this on desktop CPUs? Share your ideas in the comment box.

Dell triples bet on amd epyc rome thanks to its architecture
Dell is clearly betting on AMD instead of Intel. The Epyc Rome architecture will be triple on its servers. Will other companies be encouraged?

AMD is on fire, but the road does not stop at Rome. AMD confirmed that EPYC '' Milan '' is complete and that Zen 4 is already in design.
