Amd freesync only for tonga and hawaii
AMD recently announced that monitors that support AMD FreeSync technology will be roughly $ 100 cheaper than Nvidia's G-Sync with what looks very interesting. Now we get a setback since this technology will only be compatible with current AMD Hawaii and Tonga GPUs, so many AMD GCN graphics users are going to be left out.
This means that recent cards like the R9 280, 280X, 270, 270X, all R7 and other models of the HD 7000 and 8000 series will not be compatible with FreeSync. Only the R9 285, 285X, 290, 290X and 295X2 will be compatible. Nothing has been said about Kaveri that is based on the same architecture as Hawaii and Tonga.
Obviously it is to be expected that future AMD GPUs will also support FreeSync
