AMD has announced new high-performance graphics cards for Radeon Pro Vega II and Radeon Pro Vega II Duo workstations that will power Apple's new Mac Pro, which will launch this fall.

The two graphics cards still use AMD's Vega architecture. They use a variant of the Vega 20 silicon that first debuted on the Radeon Instinct MI50, the I nstinct MI60, and later made its way for the Radeon VII.

The Radeon Pro Vega II comes with 64 compute units, which equals 4, 096 stream processors. The graphics card is clocked at 1.7 GHz and offers up to 14.2 TFLOPs of FP32 performance. AMD has provided the Radeon Pro Vega II with 32GB of HBM2 memory via a 4, 096-bit memory bus to achieve 1TB / s of bandwidth. The card has four ThunderBolt 3 ports and one HDMI 2.0 port.

It still runs on a 1.7 GHz peak clock, but offers twice the performance in FP32. The Radeon Pro Vega II Duo retains the 4, 096-bit memory interface and 1 TB / s of memory bandwidth. However, it uses 64GB of HBM2 memory.

Apple has introduced its own MPX Expansion Module (MPX Module) along with its upcoming Mac Pro that allows you to combine up to two Radeon Pro Vega II or Radeon Pro Vega II Duo. In this way, it is possible to have a Mac with up to 56.8 FP32 TFLOPS and 128 GB of HBM2 memory, which is crazy.
