Amd offers a 'boot kit' to help ryzen 3000 owners

While the launch of AMD Ryzen 3000 processors has so far proven to be a great success, there are a number of users who are having some significant issues getting their processor to work. Specifically, those with older B450 / X470 motherboards that did not include the latest BIOS updates.

AMD is offering free users who qualify for the temporary loan of a 'Boot Kit' to help them upgrade their motherboards to work.

The 'boot kit' includes an AMD Athlon 200GE processor and some thermal paste. Using this, users have a working processor that they can use to update the BIOS. They can then reinstall their Ryzen 3000 processor on the motherboard and (if all goes well) make it work.

Once you have filed your claim for a starter kit for a processor loan, AMD will require photographs of your motherboard and Ryzen 3000 processor, which clearly shows the model numbers and unique serial numbers, as well as a copy of the purchase invoice (s) to authorize the request. In addition, a summary or copy of the communication with the motherboard manufacturer is requested. Indicate why the support of the 'Original Design Manufacturer' Original Design Manufacturer (ODM) is not suitable.

Once the RMA request is approved, the AMD Athlon 200GE processor will be shipped to applicants. The processor is provided to you as a temporary loan for the sole purpose of updating the BIOS. And it must be returned within 10 business days of receipt. It is not necessary to return the supplied thermal solution.

To avoid this, be sure to first update the motherboard BIOS to the latest version available within the AMD 300/400 series, and then purchase and / or install the Ryzen 3000 processor to be seamless.
