During the transmission "MSI Insider Show" on YouTube. Eric van Beurden, one of the program's moderators and MSI's Chief Marketing Officer, revealed that a new AMD microcode should arrive next month. It is said to bring over 100 different enhancements for AMD Ryzen processor users.
AMD is preparing a new BIOS for Ryzen processors and would be released in November
A microcode is the lowest level of instruction sets on the CPU and PC. You can think of it as firmware for the CPU, and it is usually loaded from the BIOS on the motherboard.
Van Beurden stated that AMD will begin rolling out the new BIOS next week. The MSI executive did not specifically mention the version, but we suspect it is the BIOS with the new AGESA 1.0.0.0.4 microcode.
Van Beurden explained that the BIOS will go through the vendor first, which is responsible for updating the BIOS code. Motherboard manufacturers will get it later, and will likely spend a couple of weeks fine-tuning the BIOS and tailoring it to each model.
Van Beurden noted that the more than 100 enhancements are not just about troubleshooting, but include new features and other enhancements. Unfortunately, it was not specified what kind of improvements they will bring, so we will find out in the next month. Let's see what surprises AMD brings us.
The ETA for the new firmware on the motherboard is November. However, we're likely to start seeing beta firmwares appear before that, perhaps later this month. We will keep you updated.
