The guys at Digital Foundry have got down to work to offer us a new round of video comparisons with the recently announced Radeon RX 480 as the protagonist. The new AMD card is measured with the GeForce GTX 970 and the previous Radeon R9 390 and R9 380.
Radeon RX 480 faces its rivals on video
Digital Foundry has made two comparisons between the cards using 1080p and 1440p resolutions which are primarily intended for the Radeon RX 480. As seen in our review, the new Polaris 10 card is capable of handling some games at 4K resolution but it is not clearly its strong point, remember that we are facing a card with a starting price of 220 euros in its version with 4 GB of memory.
We recommend reading our guide to the best graphics cards.
In the videos in question it is appreciated that the Radeon RX 480 offers a performance very similar to the GeForce GTX 970 and the Radeon R9 390, depending on the game it takes a slight advantage one or the other. Not bad for a card with a very aggressive price but let's not forget that its true rival will be the GeForce GTX 1060, which could officially arrive on July 7 with slightly higher performance and much higher energy efficiency.
