Amd radeon rx 500: we know more details about polaris 12

Everything indicates that in mid-April we will have the launch of the new AMD Radeon RX 500 graphics cards from the Polaris 12 series. Actually, they are not the top of the range graphics cards that we expected but they have some more than interesting improvements.

AMD Radeon RX 500: More Details

The first improvement we found is the use of a 14nm LPP manufacturing node, instead of the LPE used with the AMD Radeon RX 480, RX 470 and RX 460. But… So what are the main benefits of this new process? manufacturing? Basically the performance is improved slightly (better frequencies), lower consumption and are a priori cooler.

We leave you a table remembering the technical characteristics:

AMD Radeon RX 400 Series GPU Speed Memory AMD Radeon RX 500 Series GPU Speed Memory
Radeon RX 480 Polaris 10 2304/1266 MHz 8 GB / 8.0 GHz Radeon RX 580 Polaris 10 2304/1340 MHz 8 GB / 8.0 GHz

AMD Radeon RX 580, the new top of the range

Well, it will be very similar to the RX 480 that we analyzed last year. It will have 2034 stream processor, 144 TMUs and its 32 ROPs. Regarding its base frequencies of 1304 MHz, it will offer a power of 6.17 TFLOPs, 256 bit bus and 8GB of GDDR5 memory.

It seems that the HBM2 memory will be saved for the RX Vega series. The price of the RX580? $ 199. Let's see if this drop is seen in Spain, since currently 300 euros does not go down.

AMD Radeon RX 570 and AMD Radeon RX 560

The AMD Radeon RX 570 will not be as powerful as the RX 580 with its 5.10 TFLOPs, but it will have frequencies of 1244 MHz, a 256 Bit bus, 8GB of GDDR5 memory with a bandwidth of 224 GB / s. Its price is expected at about 149 dollars.

We recommend reading the best graphics cards on the market.

While the AMD Radeon RX 560 will have the complete Polaris 11 chip. It will have a similar speed of 1287 MHz, 4 GB of GDDR5 memory, 128 bits of bus interface and 2.63 TFLOPs of power. Obviously it is not a graphics card suitable for virtual glasses like HTC Vive, but its price will be cheap… only $ 100.
