Amd radeon rx vega shows its power in 3dmark fire strike, no surprise
Table of contents:
So far, all the data on the performance of the Vega 10 architecture in games has come from the hand of the Radeon Vega Frontier, something that has been widely criticized since it is a card oriented to the professional sector and therefore it is not optimized for games. Finally we have the first 3DMark Fire Strike test on a Radeon RX Vega.
AMD Radeon RX Vega up to the GeForce GTX 1080
Vega's first performance data in games thanks to the Radeon Vega Frontier was disappointing, as it was barely able to catch up with the GeForce GTX 1080 which has been on the market for over a year now and has much lower power consumption. It is true that the card is not optimized for games but it does not stop using the same Vega 10 core of the Radeon RX Vega, so we could not expect any miracle resulting from further optimization.
Radeon Vega Frontier passed through water suffers with overclock, reaches 440W
As we can see the Radeon RX Vega is capable of reaching 22, 330 points in 3DMark Fire Strike Performance, a score very similar to the 22, 585 points achieved by the GeForce GTX 1080 and which shows that the results of the Radeon Vega Frontier were not bad on track.

Achieving the performance of the GeForce GTX 1080 would not be a bad thing if it were not for the Vega architecture coming more than a year behind Nvidia, in addition the Vega 10 TDP is between 300 and 350W compared to 180W from the Nvidia card. It remains to know the sale price of the Radeon RX Vega but for now its future does not look very good.
Nvidia has already fully amortized its Pascal architecture and can lower the price of its cards as much as it wants to complicate AMD Vega's life.
