Amd responds to intel for its comparison: i9

Earlier this month, Intel and 'Principled Technologies' sparked controversy with their benchmarks comparing the new Core i9-9900K to AMD's Ryzen 7 2700X. Now AMD has officially responded to the problem in new slides that describe their complaints with the first performance test and the second test that was released, as well as some tips for better comparison.

The curious thing about these slides published by AMD, is that they arrive just on the day of the official launch of the ninth generation of Intel processors. The company had an opportunity to publish these slides when the results brought controversy the first time, or when the new test was released, rather than now.

But that does not mean that AMD's complaints are invalid. The company has many of the same issues with early Principled Technologies results that most enthusiasts and connoisseurs had: The first test limited the 2700X's cores, had "questionable memory configurations" and was subject to conditions that favored the processor. Intel over AMD.

AMD also encounters problems with the new test released by Intel, showing the following concerns about these new results:

• Unclear (or equivalent) multicore upgrade configuration on Z390 systems Suspicious memory configurations (times, transfer rates, capacity, reduced OE DIMM specifications) Unresolved disparities in thermal environment Unspecified GPU range Sample size, collection, and selection methodologies not Addressed Z370 C-State Configuration Not Specified

The company raised these issues despite the fact that the new test showed double-digit performance improvements over the first tests in games.

AMD also took the opportunity to share its "benchmarking best practices" for "consistent, accurate, and repeatable" results (Image above). We suspect that neither Intel nor Principled Technologies will heed AMD's advice.
