AMD's high-end product line has been absent from the picture for quite some time, but it appears the company may soon add a new GPU to its Navi series. A mysterious RX 5950 XT has recently been discovered that has obtained EEC certification and considering that we have already seen leaks from a very powerful “Big-Navi” GPU, is this the card we were waiting for? Well, only time will tell.

AMD RX 5950 XT would be the aforementioned 'Big-Navi' GPU

The EEC file, in fact, mentions four new GPUs: AMD Radeon RX 5950 XT (the flagship), Radeon RX 5950, Radeon RX 5900, and the Radeon RX 5800. This means that we can expect at least one more Navi GPU with three variants each. It is entirely possible that it is the Big Navi that was promised to us almost two and a half years ago and the one that will give AMD fans the high-end card they have been waiting for.

Considering that we are seeing at least four confirmed AMD launches when it comes to graphics cards, it is highly likely that the GPU we saw on OpenVR is one of them. In performance tests, we saw that that 'Big-Navi' GPU was + 15% more powerful than the RTX 2080 Ti.

The nomenclature would dictate that the RX 5950 XT is significantly more powerful than any of its younger sisters (like the already released RX 5700) and, by following the steps given, we can easily see that this is going to be a pretty powerful card.

Given that AMD has already confirmed that they would launch a more powerful GPU during the year, things seem to be quite clear. Surely we will have many more news about 'Big-Navi' over the course of the year. We will keep you informed.
