While we wait for the NDA survey to see the final performance of the AMD Ryzen 5 processors, the first details of what will be the simplest models based on the new Zen microarchitecture, the AMD Ryzen 3, appear.

AMD Ryzen 3 1200 to fight Core i3

AMD Ryzen 3 will be the new low-end of the Sunnyvale company and will arrive in the second half of 2017 to offer an excellent alternative to users on a tight budget. These processors will compete with the Intel Core i3 and Pentium, for this they will offer four processing cores and four threads due to the absence of SMT technology. They will include 8MB of L3 cache and all of them will come with the multiplier unlocked to allow overclocking and further improve its performance.

AMD already has the new BIOS ready to improve the performance of Ryzen

The AMD Ryzen 3 1200 will be a quad core processor with no SMT and a fairly tight TDP of just 65W so it will generate very little heat. There is talk of a base frequency of 3.1 GHz that could increase to 3.4 GHz in turbo mode although the latter is not confirmed. It would arrive for a price less than 150 euros.
