Amd ryzen 4000 renoir has a gpu performance superior to ice lake
Table of contents:
A number of new AMD Ryzen 4000 'Renoir' APU benchmarks have appeared in 3DMark's database showing superior graphics performance versus Intel's Ice Lake with Gen 11 GPUs. The new benchmarks were discovered by TUM_APISAK and ROGAME .
AMD Ryzen 4000 'Renoir' - New benchmarks reveal great graphics and CPU power
In our coverage of the AMD Ryzen 4000 'Renoir' launch, we note that in the benchmarks that AMD provided, the new processors achieved a huge increase in graphics performance over the Piccaso line.
AMD's own Robert Hallock introduced himself to reveal that the 7nm enabled AMD to increase the overall performance of the Vega core, increasing the performance of each individual computing unit (CU) by up to 59%. The 7nm process node also allowed AMD to power higher GPU clocks (up to 17% higher) than 12nm ones, along with a new power shift and similar enhancements that help deliver better performance than previous GPUs. Vega.
In 3DMark 11, the Ryzen 7 4800U is 10% faster than the Intel Core i7-1065G7 with Iris Pro graphics. The Ryzen 7 4700U is also around 2% faster as it is a lower level chip. In the CPU Physics results, a Ryzen 7 4800U is up to 30% faster, but this is mainly due to its higher frequency and higher number of cores / threads. However, this changes rapidly as in another benchmark, the Core i7-10750H has only a 15% advantage over the Ryzen 7 4800U despite having 45% more clock speed and a higher TDP figure as well (45W vs 15W).
There's also another benchmark that shows two different results from the Ryzen 7 4800U, the one on the top end has a 20% advantage in graphics and 7% in CPU performance, which could indicate the design of the 25W cTDP laptop. (TDP configurable).
Compared to the Ryzen 7 3700U, the Ryzen 7 4800U has 25% more graphics performance and 65% more CPU performance, and it does this more efficiently than Picasso chips. Moving on to UserBenchmark scores, we see a similar result with AMD Radeon Vega GPUs outperforming an Intel Iris Plus graphics chip with up to 34% more performance. All of this shows that while Navi on Ryzen 4000 APU would have been quite impressive, AMD still managed to do an amazing job in the graphics department with Vega's second iteration at 7nm.

AMD seems to have done a great job with the new APUs, despite not benefiting from 'Zen 3', but rather based on Zen 2. We can expect a major new performance leap when Ryzen 5000 APUs launch the year that comes.
