AMD Zen and Summit Ridge will fight with the most powerful of Intel

After leaking the Zen die, AMD claims that its new Summit Ridge processors will perform twice as much as an FX-8350 (Orochi) thanks to the great improvement introduced in performance per clock cycle, better known as IPC. According to AMD, Zen contributes 40% more IPC than Excavator, so we are talking about a 75% improvement in IPC compared to the first Bulldozer-based processors, which came onto the market in late 2011. With these Summit data Ridge would be in a position to face an almighty Intel Core i7 5960X, the most powerful processor in the Intel Haswell-E series.

The first Summit Ridge processors will be 8 cores with SMT technology so they will be able to handle up to 16 threads of data. These new chips are due to hit the market in October and will work with the AM4 socket that will debut with seventh-generation Bristol Ridge APUs with Excavator cores and that will offer up to a 50% improvement over Kaveri.
