Google launched Android 6.0 Marshmallow about 8 months ago and the famous search engine company has wanted to throw some data on its reception in the market for phones and laptops. The data provided by Google reveals that the adoption of Android Marshmallow is slower than previously thought and since August 2015 it is already on 10% of Android devices.

Slow adoption of Android Marshmallow

The data offered by Google counts Android devices until June 6, so they are fairly fresh results to analyze. With a 10.1% market share, in the comparison with Android Lollipop it loses, since in the same period of time Android 5.0 already had a 12.4% market share. At this time Android 5.0 Lollipop is already installed on 35.4% of Android devices.

Android Marshmallow behind Lollipop and KitKat

The good news is that Marshmallow adoption has not stagnated but continues to increase little by little, compared to May 2016, it rose 2.6%, while Lollipop fell 0.2%. If we get Android 4.4 kitKat, this version is present in 31.6% of devices, down almost 1% compared to May. In this way the podium of the most used Android systems are Lollipop with 35.4%, KitKat 31.6% and Jelly Bean with 18.9%.

Continuing with this trend, Android 6.0 Marshmallow will have a very difficult time reaching the 20% quota when Android N officially launches in September, a new system that we have discussed in a special article around here. Android 3.0 Honeycomb, which was released only for Tablets, has been omitted from the graph.
