Google last year introduced Android Things, the Android-based operating system designed for the Internet of Things, known as IoT. After 18 months of testing and several previews, the operating system is officially announced. Since the first stable version of it is already a reality. The first stable version has been announced by Google. The company wants to make it easier for developers to create IoT devices. Thanks to the SDK, those who create Android applications will have an easy time creating smart devices.

Updates have a determining role in this operating system. Google confirms that free updates and security patches will be given for three years. So both developers and users are going to be protected. In addition, the integration of Google Assistant and Chromecast with it is announced. So users have more possibilities.

Android Things will offer OTA updates at all times. Currently we already have products that make use of this operating system, such as LG ThinQ Smart Speaker or Lenovo Smart Display. But this number will increase over time.

Since the first devices that will use Android Things as their operating system are currently in production. Its launch is estimated for this summer. Although most likely in the coming weeks more specific details about these devices will be revealed.
