Asus recently announced its new Asus ROG STRIX Radeon RX Vega 64 O8G graphics card that has the honor of being the first custom version of Vega to be unveiled and will surely be the first to hit stores. Vega is AMD's new high-end graphics architecture and this new custom card from Asus seeks to unlock its full potential.
Asus ROG STRIX Radeon RX Vega 64 O8G
The new Asus ROG STRIX Radeon RX Vega 64 O8G graphics card is built with the most advanced version of the company's powerful DirectCu III heatsink to maximize cooling capacity, as Vega is characterized by very high power consumption and therefore generates a lot of heat in its operation. This heatsink is supported by a large aluminum fin radiator that is crossed by several copper heatpipes, these have direct contact technology with the GPU to be able to absorb a greater amount of heat. Three 100 mm fans are placed on top of the set, which are responsible for generating the air flow necessary for its operation.
RX VEGA 64 vs GTX 1080 - RX VEGA 56 vs GTX 1070
Beneath it all lies a PCB customized by Asus and manufactured using the highest quality components. The card is powered by two 8-pin connectors that will provide enough power to a robust 13-phase VRM powered with Super Alloy Power 2 components. The operating frequencies will be close to those offered by the RX Vega 64 Liquid Edition variant although exact figures have not been confirmed. Asus has done an excellent job of offering a vitaminized version of Vega with higher performance while maintaining quieter operation and lower temperatures compared to the AMD reference model.
Asus has also announced a ROG STRIX RX Vega 56 that is based on the same PCB but works at AMD reference frequencies, despite this its heatsink will be much quieter than the turbine and lower temperatures.
Prices for the Asus ROG STRIX Radeon RX Vega have not been announced.
