Gigabyte c246 motherboard announced

Gigabyte, a leading manufacturer of motherboards and graphics cards, has launched the new workstation motherboard, Gigabyte C246-WU4, supporting multi-GPU configurations to maximize GPU computing power or graphics performance for creatives and technicians. The board also supports many of the business features of vPro that the Q370 Express chipset offers.

New Gigabyte C246-WU4 motherboard for the professional sector

Gigabyte C246-WU4 is ready for up to 8-core Intel Xeon-E and Intel Core Coffee Lake processors. These two new motherboards are equipped with dual Intel GbE LAN interface, USB 3.1 Type-C, one M.2 PCIe x4 interface and up to 10 SATA III ports. With Xeon processors installed, it supports up to 128GB of ECC memory. 9th Gen Core processors allow you to use up to 128GB of memory without ECC. The 8th generation have a limit of 64 GB without ECC.

It comes with 4 PCIe x16 slots and supports four cards with a PCIe x8 / x4 bandwidth, allowing users to run not only high-performance graphics cards, but also different additional cards at the same time. C246-WU4 adopts an Intel i219LM controller to support Intel vPro technology, for remote IT management. With an 8 + 2 phase power design, it is optimized for Intel Xeon-E and ninth and eighth generation Intel Core processors up to 8 cores. In addition, the two M.2 slots and its 10 SATA III ports provide great expandability.

USB connectivity includes USB 3.1 gen 2, including Type C rear panel ports. The integrated audio features a Realtek ALC1220VB, which is shielded against EMI, and connected to the WIMA capacitors. Expect this model to be priced at around 350 euros.
