AOC comes with not one, but two new ultra-wide gaming monitors: the CU34G2 and CU34G2X, which are almost identical, with just a couple of subtle but highly relevant differences, as seen on ComputerBase this week.

AOC CU34G2 and CU34G2X are 34-inch ultra-wide monitors

Both share identical chassis and similar panels, offering 34 inches with a resolution of 3440 x 1440. The panels are 8-bit VA drives with WLED backlighting and a 3, 000: 1 static contrast ratio.

The design is clearly player-oriented with a sleek case, sleek stand, and red motifs. Also, both are compatible with AMD FreeSync technology.

That's where the similarities end and the differences begin. The CU34G2 (not X) has a panel that has an image refresh rate of 100Hz, while the CU34G2X raises the bar to 144Hz. Its color space is also slightly different, with the CU34G2 covering 124% of the sRGB space and 92% AdobeRGB, while the CU34G2X covers 119% sRGB and 88% AdobeRGB.

Strangely, the lower refresh rate variant is said to have HDMI 2.0, and the 144Hz CU34G2X has only HDMI 1.4. They both have DisplayPort 1.2, so the most important base is covered.

ComputerBase reports that the prices are 469 euros for the CU34G2. The price of the 'X' model has not been confirmed. Availability is scheduled for the month of January. We will keep you informed.
