There are more than a few users who are starting to bet on gaming monitors with HDR, 4K technology and good refresh rates. AOC is introducing a new alternative with its G2868PQU monitor, which comes with HDR, FreeSync, and response times of 1 ms only.

AOC G2868PQU is a new 'gaming' monitor with 4K, HDR and FreeSync

Like most gaming monitors, the G2868PQU uses a TN (Twisted Nematic) panel. However, this is an HDR ready display that covers 102% of the sRGB color gamut and 82% of the AdobeRGB color gamut.

At an interesting 28-inch size and 4K UHD resolution, it means this monitor has a pixel density of 157.35 ppi (pixels per inch). This means that it has sharper images than typical conventional monitors and even Smart TVs with 4K resolution and a larger size.

In addition, thanks to AMD FreeSync technology, users will also get images with smoother movements and without the unpleasant 'tearing' effect that breaks the image.

The only negative here, although that will depend on each one, is that the monitor offers a standard 60 Hz refresh rate, when we could have expected a refresh rate of 144 Hz at this point.

How much does the AOC G2868PQU gaming monitor cost?

The AOC G2868PQU will be available throughout this March with a retail price of 299 euros. One more option that is added to the long list of gaming monitors on the market.
