To further increase the hype AMD is releasing small details about its new Vega graphic architecture a few days after its official presentation at CES 2017 in Las Vegas. The ve.ga website has unveiled new clues that point to vastly improved energy efficiency and performance.

New data on Vega

Vega doubles the performance offered per clock cycle and improves energy efficiency by four times, the bad thing is that no reference point is mentioned so we do not know what AMD is comparing it with for its claims.

In addition, a large amount of information is mentioned that refers to the new high-performance architecture of AMD, the most striking thing is that it has a new computing unit known as VEGA NCU (Next Compute Unit) that is accompanied by many other features such as Next Generation Computer Engine, Next Generation Pixel Engine, Draw Stream Binning Rasterizer, High Bandwidth Cache / Controller and 512 TB of Virtual Address Space.

Finally, there is talk of an eight times higher capacity per stack doubling the bandwidth, this refers to its new HBM2 memory, so, at least in this aspect, they are comparing it with the Fiji architecture and its HBM memory.

Unfortunately we will still have to wait until January 5 for the official announcement of Vega and finally know more details officially and with whom the direct comparison is. Further details on Ryzen processors are also expected.
