Apple music surpasses spotify users in the United States

Experts in the music industry already predicted earlier this year that, if growth rates were maintained then, Apple Music could outperform Spotify in terms of paid subscribers in the United States this summer. Well, according to a major music distributor, this achievement would have already been achieved by those from Cupertino.

According to the information provided, both services already have more than 20 million subscribers in the United States. However, Apple Music is "a hair ahead".

The news echoes a previous Wall Street Journal report that Apple Music is growing at a significantly higher rate, so it will be comfortably ahead of Spotify as the year progresses. The newspaper calculated that Spotify grew at 2% per month, while Apple Music grows at 5%.

Globally, Spotify remains far ahead, with around 70 million paying subscribers compared to 45 million for Apple Music. To these figures should be added the 90 million users in Spotify's free option, while Apple has between 5 and 10 million trial subscribers.
