According to the information published by Variety, the streaming music service Apple Music has already surpassed forty million total subscribers in the 115 countries in which it is operating, which shows an unstoppable growth rate that is maintained when only two and a half months remain for the platform to complete its first three years of life.

Apple Music continues up

Less than a month after iTunes chief Eddy Cue announced the 38 million subscribers at the SXSW conference in Austin, Texas, Apple Music has broken the 40 million paid subscriber barrier, thus confirming a rapid growth rate.

The news coincides with the announcement made precisely by Cue pointing out the rise of Oliver Schusser who, after several years in charge of different aspects related to Apple Music, App Store, iTunes Movies, iBooks, Podcasts and more, has now become the new boss from Apple Music Worldwide.

Returning to Apple Music, the service reached 27 million subscribers in June last year, 30 million subscribers in September 2017, 36 million subscribers in February, and 38 million subscribers in March. In this sense, the sum of 2 million subscribers in April marks the fastest growth of Apple Music.

But the growth of the platform has not yet stopped as you also have to consider the additional eight million people who are trying Apple Music through the three-month free trial period, as Cue pointed out.

The Wall Street Journal recently noted that Apple Music is on track to overtake Spotify in the United States as early as this summer, at least as far as paid subscribers are concerned, as its growth rate of 5% outpaces the growth rate. 2% of Spotify, so that both services are closer every day.
