Asrock removes overclocking in skylake non
Table of contents:
We already warned a few days ago that Intel was planning to force motherboard manufacturers to remove overclocking on Skylake processors with the multiplier locked and we already have confirmation, ASRock removes overclocking on Skylake non-K.
Skylake non-k overclocking done?
As rumored, the overclocking by BCLK in Skylake comes from the hand of a new BIOS for motherboards and ASRock has been the first to succumb to the demands of Intel. On the other hand, it is not all bad news since if you do not update the BIOS you will be able to continue overclocking your Skylake processor by BCLK. Also, ASRock still offers to download the previous BIOS, which allows overclocking.
We do not know if this situation will last for a long time or if on the contrary Intel will be more demanding with the motherboard manufacturers or if it will take other measures to eliminate the possibility of overclocking the blocked Skylake processors.
A nasty move by Intel that hurts users, hopefully in the not too distant future Intel will have more competition in the market for x86 processors and will not be able to resort to such nasty moves.
What do you think of Intel's new move?
