ASUS was one of the first companies to announce its Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) routers a few years ago. Now they are taking two of these and putting them in a single kit to make the first WiFi mesh system that implements the 802.11ax protocol.

AiMesh AX6100 Tri-Band Wi-Fi 6 hits stores in June

They call it the WiFi mesh AiMesh AX6100 and it is made up of two RT-AX92U routers. This is a Tri-Band solution that offers 866Mbps (5GHz 1), 4804Mbps (5GHz 2), and 400Mbps (2.4GHz). This is much faster than the 1734Mbps of a WiFi 5 (802.11ac) router.

Each router also has four Gigabit LAN ports with one Gigabit WAN port. So either one can be configured as a primary router. It also supports both LAN port aggregation and WAN port aggregation. This removes the 1G bottleneck from the WAN port, which is very useful if your ISP offers a 1Gbps package.

Like most WiFi mesh systems, ASUS also makes it easy to control and monitor through a companion app for smartphones. This also allows parents to quickly set controls and restrictions remotely.

How much does the AiMesh AX6100 cost?

The AiMesh AX6100 WiFi system will start selling from June according to Hardware.info with a price of 469.99 euros. The price seems quite competitive for what it offers, which are basically two routers with a huge bandwidth and a large coverage area both indoors and outdoors.
