ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) announces the launch of its latest mechanical gaming keyboard, the ROG Strix Flare. The keyboard uses German-made Cherry MX mechanical keys with key backlighting. This device had been announced in February and is now finally available for purchase, for a 'modest' price of $ 179.99.

With the ROG Strix Flare, users can choose between Cherry MX brown (touchless click) or red (linear non-click). Like any decent gaming keyboard, it also has anti-ghosting features and even has N-key rollover via USB.

The keyboard has a full rainbow of colors to choose from and has 13 effects that can be controlled by shortcuts. ASUS is also expanding custom lighting behavior options with a software update. This would give users flexibility with their options, rather than being stuck with the same default presets.

The ROG Strix Flare supports up to six profiles with different macros and lighting. This means that users can configure the correct mix for different games and quickly switch between each one. To retrieve them, it is not necessary to access the software, since they are stored through the built-in memory. With Aura Sync, users can also synchronize this light behavior with other compatible ROG products.
