We bring you in a national exclusive the analysis of the new Asus PG248Q monitor of the ROG series with 24-inch screen, 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution, compatible with G-Sync, a refresh rate of 180 Hz, Nvidia 3D Vision and 1 ms response. Do you want to know more about him? Well, don't miss our review in Spanish!
Asus PG248Q technical specifications
Many of you will wonder what resolution you have or what is the best. The standard is the 1920 × 1080 also known as FULL HD, then we move on to the 2K screens: 2560 × 1440 and the latter as the 4K 3840 × 2160.
This time we stayed in the most purchased resolution to date: Full HD. Where any user can enjoy high definition and in this case take advantage of all the gamer features of this monitor.
Asus PG248Q: Unboxing and Design
As expected Asus ships the Asus PG248Q in a large and very heavy box to make it perfect at home. On the cover is an image of the monitor seen from above and in large letters the model itself. While in the back we have more information about the technical specifications.
Once we open the box we find the following inside:
- Asus PG248Q monitor. Power cord. Support CD. Warranty card. HDMI cable. Stand removed.
The Asus PG248Q is about the highest level a Full HD monitor can achieve. With the ideal screen size for this resolution: 24 inches at 1920 x 1080 pixels incorporates a refresh rate from 120 to 180 Hz.
We come across physical dimensions with a base 561.6 x 418.2 up to 538.2 x 237.9 mm and a weight of 6.6 KG. While if you want to hang it on an articulating arm we will have 561.6 x 329.7 x70 mm. Without a doubt it will fit on any table and its style is beautiful.
Speaking of more technical characteristics, it is time to comment that it incorporates a TN panel with a maximum brightness of 350 cd / m and a contrast ratio of 1000: 1. Being used to a quality IPS panel we saw the small drawbacks of a TN monitor: viewing angles more improvable but.
As we have seen in other Republic Of Gamer (ROG) models, its aesthetics are almost perfect and its edges are very thin. In the right area we find the OSD management panel and in the lower area centered in relief the Asus logo.
As expected, it is compatible with the VESA 100 x 100 mm connection, in case you want to place it on an articulated arm or a wall adapter.
Among its rear connections we have an HDMI connection, another DisplayPort 1.2, and two USB 3.0 connections. How we expected includes a 3.5mm Mini-Jack audio output, power outlet and a Kensington lock.
In these new batches of Asus Gaming monitors include the external power supply. In this case it is very similar to the models previously analyzed.
We will briefly explain what NVIDIA G-SYNC technology consists of: Its operation is quite simple since it allows the gaming action to be faster, smoother and more pleasant when gaming. What G-SYNC does is synchronize the screen refresh rate with your computer's NVIDIA graphics card, eliminating the tearing effect, minimizing jerkiness and input delay. Some of you may be wondering, Is it Marketing? No, in our test bench and several external people have been able to verify that the sensation of the game and the fluidity is superior.
It also integrates ultra-reduced blue light technology that protects this type of light that is harmful to your sight and allows us to adjust up to four levels. It also incorporates anti-flicker technology that improves the gaming experience and prevents eye strain, which is highly recommended during long gaming sessions.
As a last highlight, it incorporates the exclusive GamePlus technology that offers an improvement in the vision of the games with its three profiles (Crosshair / Timer / FPS Counter / Screen alignment) and also integrates the compatibility with Nvidia 3D Vision for the users looking to use virtual reality with their monitor. It is not the same as the use of HTC Vive but it helps us to get into the bug in purchasing it.
OSD menu
Its OSD menu is quite comfortable and we get used to it pretty quickly. It allows us to configure any value easily and intuitively: color tones, contrast, brightness, sRGB colors, profiles and other adjustments thanks to its fantastic 5-way navigation joystick.
WE RECOMMEND YOU Asus ROG Strix Helios Review in Spanish (Complete Analysis)It also has the Turbo button that allows us to change the hertz from 60 to 180 Hz. What game are we interested in playing with 60 and which with 180 hertz? It is recommended to play at 60 Hz with slow games (MOBA style) while the recommended ones are the frantic DOOM style, Battlefield 4, Overwatch…
Experience and conclusion about Asus PG248Q
The Asus PG248Q is a 24-inch monitor, 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution, compatible with G-SYNC technology and a Spectacular ROG design. But it is that internally it has two unique characteristics for gamers: 180 Hz refresh and the possibility of using Nvidia's 3D VISION glasses.
In our experience the monitor has given the size in all our tests, we detail them below:
- Daily use: These tests are focused on the use of office automation applications, graphic design and photo retouching and the reproduction of videos in Full HD quality. It has been carved in a beastly way and by incorporating an improved TN panel, the viewing angles are more refined but do not reach the level of an IPS panel. Multimedia: We have used the monitor as a reproductive medium in movies and series with KODI. The result has been excellent and playing on the PS4 or Wii U has grown to size. We loved it! PC Games: This is where we find that its 180 Hz along with a GTX 1080 in games like Counter Strike makes you a differential player. Although we are not the most gamers on the national scene, we have been able to make very good games. It is amazing… when you play 60 Hz again you feel weird.
We also recommend reading the best monitors on the market where we will insert this fantastic model.
Everything we have talked about is good, but we can find few problems with it. The only drawback that we can find is its high price of 530 euros…
