Asus PG348Q technical specifications
Many of you will wonder what resolution you have or what is the best. The standard is the 1920 × 1080 also known as FULL HD, then we move on to the 2K screens: 2560 × 1440 and the latter as the 4K 3840 × 2160.
In this case we are between the intermediate point between 2K and 4K with the 3440 x 1440p model, which makes it an appropriate model for the most enthusiastic gamers.
Asus PG348Q: Unboxing and Design
Asus ships the Asus PG348Q Ultrawide in a sturdy, large box that weighs a lot, we recommend that you unpack between two people. On the cover is an image of the monitor seen from above and in large letters the model itself. While in the back we have more information about the technical specifications.
Once we open the box we find the following inside:
- Asus PG348Q monitor. Power cord. DisplayPort cable. Quick Start Guide. USB 3.0 cable. Support CD. Warranty card. HDMI cable. Detachable stand.
The Asus PG348Q is the first 34-inch monitor with a resolution of 3440 x 1440 pixels (UltraWide) that incorporates a refresh rate from 50 to 100 Hz. With an HDMI cable you can only have a maximum of 50 while with the DisplayPort you will have up to 100 HZ. Everything editable from the panel of your graphics card (Nvidia or AMD).
We come across physical dimensions with a base of 829 x 558 x 297 mm and a weight of 14.9 KG. As you are seeing it is a large monitor and to enjoy it you will need a large table and a good viewing distance.
As a good high-end monitor, a panel is AH-IPS 8 bit and has a maximum brightness of 300 cd / m and a contrast ratio of 1000: 1. In our first impression the calibration has arrived perfect and that is that its viewing angles are impressive. Having the ultra-panoramic design is worth both to play at the highest level and to work.
The aesthetic is 100% Republic Of Gamer (ROG). Super thin edges on the sides and a slightly thicker frame on the bottom but it looks great. It is a monitor that dresses your bedroom or office.
As expected, it is compatible with the VESA 100 x 100 mm connection, in case you want to place it on an articulated arm or a wall adapter.
Among its rear connections we have 4 HDMI v 1.4 connections, two DisplayPort 1.2, and four USB 3.0 connections. It also has a 3.5mm Mini-Jack audio output and power outlet. This last one works with an external power supply.
We will briefly explain what NVIDIA G-SYNC technology consists of: Its operation is quite simple since it allows the gaming action to be faster, smoother and more pleasant when gaming. What G-SYNC does is synchronize the screen refresh rate with your computer's NVIDIA graphics card, eliminating the tearing effect, minimizing jerkiness and input delay. Some of you may be wondering, Is it Marketing? No, in our test bench and several external people have been able to verify that the sensation of the game and the fluidity is superior.
It also integrates ultra-reduced blue light technology that protects this type of light that is harmful to your sight and allows us to adjust up to four levels. It also incorporates anti-flicker technology that improves the gaming experience and prevents eye strain, which is highly recommended during long gaming sessions.
OSD menu
Its OSD menu is quite comfortable and we get used to it pretty quickly. It allows us to configure any value easily and intuitively: color tones, contrast, brightness, sRGB colors, profiles and other adjustments thanks to its fantastic 5-way navigation joystick.
It also has the Turbo button that allows us to change the hertz from 60 to 100 Hz. What game are we interested in playing with 60 and which with 100 hertz? It is recommended to play at 60 Hz with slow games (MOBA style) while the recommended ones are the frantic DOOM style, Battlefield 4, Overwatch…
WE RECOMMEND YOU Asus ROG Strix XG32VQR Review in Spanish (Full Review)Final words and conclusion about Asus PG348Q
The Asus PG348Q Ultrawide is a monitor with an 8-bit IPS panel, an ultra-wide 34-inch screen and a refresh rate of up to 100 Hz. Its aesthetic is brutal, it has the silver and orange design characteristic of the ROG family in its renewed appearance. The base is a complete work of art. We can say that aesthetically it is the best monitor we have ever played.
We recommend reading the best monitors on the market.
We have carried out in our test bench several performance tests to evaluate the Asus PG348Q Ultrawide with different uses:
- Office and graphic design: Personally, it does not seem to me the most suitable resolution to work with graphic design, but it is true that you get used to it very quickly. The large width of the screen (also clear resolution) allows you to manage two windows in perfect condition. Leaving one for design and another to navigate or work with video rendering. Games: It is one of the best monitors we have tested. Its response time of 5ms, its 100 Hz with displayport and the large number of adjustments that we can make from the OSD and the turbo button are one of the delights of the market. The immersion in games (strategy and shooting) is incredible and you have a great advantage over your rival. Movies and series: The multimedia playback offered by this fantastic monitor is amazing. In addition, the panel has hardly any bleeding and it shows that they are hand-chosen panels.
After speaking wonders of this monitor, we confirm that it is the best ultra-panoramic monitor by far. We only see a BUT (and we put it in capital letters) is that it costs 1, 200 to 1, 300 euros. It has the G-SYNC model, a brutal design and an incredible panel. It is clear that it is not suitable for all pockets.
