Asus introduces the rt-ac66u dual router
The ASUS RT-AC66U router has 802.11ac (5G) Wi-Fi connectivity that allows you to enjoy a speed three times higher than the 802.11n standard. Its dual-band functionality offers a total bandwidth of 1.75Gbps in the 2.4GHz / 5GHz bands. Such capabilities make it ideal for the most demanding online applications. Other features to highlight are ASUS AiRadar technology, which amplifies signal reception, ASUSWRT configuration, multiple SSIDs, IPv6 support and multi-roll USB capabilities that allow it to function as a 3G device, FTP, DLNA and printer server.
Three times faster than wireless-N protocol
The RT-AC66U far exceeds the speed of the successful RT-N66U router. Working in the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, it is one of the first routers to support the 802.11ac wireless protocol, which allows it to reach a speed of 1.3Gbps for the 5GHz band and 450Mbps for the 2.4GHz band, which supposes a width 1.75Gbps total bandwidth and ensures the compatibility of the router with devices that see the light for years to come. The RT-AC66U also features ASUS AiRadar technology, which amplifies signal transmission helping to overcome physical barriers that even devices may encounter.
Features that enhance the network experience
Following the tradition established by previous ASUS high-speed routers, the RT-AC66U has ASUSWRT, which allows configuring the device in three simple steps and has the strictest QoS standards. These standards improve network reliability, optimize bandwidth utilization, and offer Download Master capabilities such as downloading in the background, even with the computer turned off. It also has support for up to eight SSIDs, which allow users to establish networks with different privileges and levels of security without having to compromise their passwords. The RT-AC66U also supports the IPv6 standard for superior transmission of information packets.
USB applications that extend the versatility of the router
USB ports transform the RT-AC66U into a true multi-role device. By connecting a 3G dongle, users will be able to share the 3G connection with multiple compatible devices. DLNA compatibility allows you to connect devices such as game consoles, Blu-ray players, Smart TVs and media centers. The USB ports also allow it to be used as an FTP server to share files, resources and have network functions such as a printer.
Complete line of 802.11ac products
In addition to the RT-AC66U router, ASUS has also developed PCE-AC66 and USB-AC53 clients, both capable of 802.11ac speeds. The PCE-AC66 dual-band is a desktop PCI Express card that supports high-power 3 × 3 transmissions and a bandwidth of 1.3Gbps for the 5GHz band and 450Mbps for the 2.4GHz band. The USB-AC53 allows you to upgrade your equipment to 802.11ac connectivity via USB. It supports 2 × 2 802.11ac transmissions with a bandwidth of 867Mbps for the 5GHz band and 300Mbps for the 2.4GHz band. Like the RT-AC66U, both devices incorporate Broadcom's 5G WiFi chips.
